I'm a beginner.
Well--that hasn't changed, but I feel like my interests and what I should tell you about me has.
I enjoy cartoons. Comics. Illustrations. Paintings. Drawings. Art that makes me smile, and art that makes me sad.
I gravitate toward the whimsy, draw the silly, and love the sentimental. I think some of my favorite pieces remind me of when I was a kid. Playing with my pets. Imagining things. Getting into harmless trouble on one of my many "adventures".
I dabble in digital, get messy with oil, and spend as much time as I can in my sketchbook. I like ink. I like lines that are able to express things by themselves. I enjoy the challenge of trying to harness watercolor--but keep discovering that I'll never fully harness it, and that is part of its beauty.
I hope to keep refining my skills so I can create things like many of the great artists on this site and elsewhere. I hope things I create begin to generate responses. Happiness. Memories. Sadness.
Mostly, I think I love art because of its ability to ignore language, distance, ideology, sex, race, and whatever else we've created to separate ourselves. I think I love art because it doesn't matter how you came to view a piece of art, but that you are viewing it, and hopefully it triggers a response. Good, bad, or otherwise--but never indifferent.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy.
